Huzzah!
Good morning, and welcome back fair adventurers.
I decided to spare you all the late night notification and simply send out the herald this morning instead.
I hope last week gave you the push you needed to more deeply explore your hobbies and passions. Where we find joy and create is more important now than ever. Similarly, so is the company we keep.
Community isn’t just comfort. It’s momentum. It’s memory. It’s how we move forward when we can’t on our own. Hobbies, craft, etc., are their own sparks that help us find warmth and fire in each other.
Now light the beacons!
For grit and glory,
Sir Kadean
P.S. If you are new here, you can find all the past editions of the herald here, still held by our previous overlord.

April 2025: The Fires We Tend
Travel long enough, and you learn that movement alone is not enough. To endure the journey—to enjoy it—you must carry sparks of your own making. Stories, crafts, rituals, habits, skills: these are the fires we tend when the nights grow long and the road stretches far ahead.
This explore the practices that keep your hands nimble, your mind bright, and your heart curious. Perhaps you rediscover an old craft, begin a new pursuit, or share your skills with fellow travelers.
Hobbies are more than diversion, or a way to pass the time—they are survival, connection, and celebration. They are how we keep sharp, stay soft, and remember who we are along the way.
Week 16: Lighting the Beacon
A fire shared becomes a gathering place. This week is about community and the circles we form through shared craft, curiosity, and care.
Join others. Offer help. Ask questions. Build beside someone else.
Your practice doesn’t just belong to you. It can connect, invite, and light the way for others.
Resources for ye:
(main quests are essential to your journey)
Gather ‘round the campfire
and sing a campfire song, a c-a-m-p-f-i-r-e-s-o-n-g song and if you didn’t think I was going to bring that up during this theme then you’re wrong, but it will help if you just vote alooooong
Action: Vote if you are interested in participating in hobby specific discord channels / coworking sessions. (I will only build if there is enough interest).
Another Flame
Seek the fire in others.
Action: Ask someone about their hobby or practice. Listen closely. Ask follow-up questions. Offer encouragement. Community starts with noticing.
The Signal
A lone light can still be seen from miles away.
Action: Choose one thing to share with others this week. It could be a finished piece, a work-in-progress, a thought, or a technique you love. It doesn’t need polish. It just needs presence.
Old Flame
Rekindled fires can grow bright again.
Action: Reconnect with someone you used to create or play alongside. A childhood friend, a past collaborator, an old teammate. Send a message. Recall a shared moment. Even a spark of connection counts.
Trading Tenders
Everyone bring a log, some kindling, or a stoke.
Action: Find a way to collaborate on a project related to your hobby. This could be co-writing a story together, trading an art piece back and forth to add onto, delving out research items, etc. Find joy in the act of joint contribution over the output.
Fireside Chats
At first, it was just about the hobby. The shared table. The side-by-side silence. But something shifted. A laugh echoed longer. A shared frustration sparked an idea. The fire grew larger than you expected.
Action: Reflect on what your creative community has offered beyond the craft itself. Has it brought you connection, confidence, collaboration, or even cause? Write it down, speak it aloud, or thank someone who’s helped the spark grow.

Roll of the dice
Task: Sometimes the spark finds you. This month, let fate guide your hand. Using the “Roll the Dice” scroll, cast the dice and allow chance to choose your hobby or area of exploration. You need not master it- only try something new to see if a spark comes up.
Action: Roll two six-sided dice (or use a free digital roller) and match your result to the scroll. Try that hobby at least once this week in any way you can—reading about it, watching others do it, trying it yourself, or joining a space where it's practiced.
The Thread Between Us
Task: A craft is rarely kept alone. This month, seek out a group, guild, or gathering space—digital or physical—where others are tending the same flame. Whether it’s a local class, an online forum, a club, a library event, or a cozy Twitch stream, your quest is to find the others who share your spark.
Action: Find and join a community related to your hobby.
April Guild Trials
Task: Complete the quest for the month as outlined in your guild’s charter
Scholars: “The Curious Thread” – Pick a niche topic or hobby-related fact and trace it. Follow rabbit holes, find sources, and learn one unexpected thing. Share what you uncovered and why it intrigued you.
Artisans: “The Everyday Craft” Create something useful. Not fancy, not decorative—just something that serves a purpose, however small. Let your craft live in the daily rhythm.
Bards: “The Hobby Confessional” Tell a short story (written or spoken) about a time you tried something new. Was it a disaster? A surprise success? A secret love? Share the tale, warts, wonder, and all.
Sentinels: “The Watchful Flame” – Observe how others tend their fires—watch someone else’s hobby, join a community space, or simply take note of the rituals and care around you. What can you learn from their steadiness?
Alchemists: “The Mood Mixture” Design a blend to match your current creative energy. This could be a playlist, a recipe, a tea, a scent, even a list or collage of colors or textures. Capture your atmosphere and give it form.
April Guild Badge Design Challenge
Task: Create a design for the April Guild Badge, a symbol that we may all look back on to celebrate the month’s success. Each month, a winning design will be selected that best represents the theme and highlighted on social media. Challenge partakers will be able to collect them all.
This month’s theme is “The Fires We Tend”
How to Submit: Share your badge design in the Discord by April 25th
Rewards for this month’s quests: 🦄

Discovery Halts Council Roadwork
Work along the main road between the Gilded Mare and the High Council offices has come to a halt following the unearthing of an undisclosed object or structure beneath the cobblestones. The stretch is now fully closed to foot and cart traffic, with tall canvases hung high and taut to obscure the view from all angles.
Guests of the high council being rerouted through the woodline under the guidance of the Kingdom Representatives or, where needed, the Woodland Nymph Infantry.
No official statement has been issued regarding the nature of the discovery. When pressed for comment, Council members offered none.
From behind the veils, only rooftops remain visible—enough to stoke the envy of onlookers denied a better vantage. The cat remains perched atop the Gilded Mare's signpost, kept its eyes fixed on the sealed site, tail flicking in an agitated rhythm. Overhead, what many believe to be the raven circled once before vanishing beyond the canvas line.
The Herald will provide updates as they become available.
Realm Advisory remains in effect
The main road between the Gilded Mare and the High Council offices has been sealed following an undisclosed discovery during council-ordered roadwork. Tall canvases obscure the site entirely. Onlookers are to reroute via escort through the eastern woods, under guard of the Woodland Nymph Infantry or Kingdom Representatives. No details have been released regarding what was found.
The Toll Bridge remains open under continued watch. All posted restrictions still apply. Detainment protocols are active for any who deviate from sanctioned paths.
Fionnán’s status remains unknown. Reports of unusual activity continue. Travelers are urged to proceed with vigilance and report any signs of disruption or irregularity.
Rewards for last week’s quest— gifted by Orvyn, academy student- year 3
To those who answered the call,
My deepest thanks for your contributions to the spring folklore archive. Each story, sign, and whisper you shared has added weight to what the Academy continues to dismiss as nonsense. I assure you—it is not.
Your help has already revealed patterns that the Goblin Order considers… significant. I’ll write more once the findings are properly transcribed (and once I’m sure no one is watching too closely).
Blessed be,
Orvyn
